Individual Work
Brief
‘Spontaneous Procedure’ is about a fast shift between the hand and the computer through digital and analogue making. The theme focused on spontaneous procedures on an architectural and urban scale.

This top-down project asks to juxtapose, organise and systemise spontaneously through an understanding of algorithmic design methodology. I was asked to design through transformation, adaptation and re-organisation. The project begins with the fascination of creating a movement, like emotion, never static. In shifting between the hand and the computer through digital and analogue, I post-rationalised an interest in capturing gravity and nods. From there, I explored tactility and continuity of natural materials and altering forms without forcing the character. The focus was on finding the materials’ natural response to their constraints and environment and the chemistry of their hybrid. Finally, the project evolved into an elaborate staircase design.
